What is heck is a Guberif?!
The Guberif (Firebug spelled backwards)is Idaho's own fire prevention icon. This notorious character was created in the 1940's and was known for accidentally setting wildfires. His example was used to teach people about what not to do when recreating in Idaho's wildlands. For a more complete explanation, please see this previous blog post. http://idahofirewise.blogspot.com/2010/08/bring-back-guberif.html
We saw it at Ponderosa state park in McCall! It sparked some curiosity and so we googled it. Very catchy way and a great idea!
What college graduate thought of this?! Nonsense!!
